Anthony Carney, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, FNYAM is a Clinical Associate Professor and the Assistant Dean (Early Sequence) of the BS Program at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. His teaching, leadership, and clinical practice focus on inclusive excellence in higher education, LGBTQ+ primary care, and gender-affirming care.
At NYU Meyers, Dr. Carney teaches pre-licensure courses in adult health nursing, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and LGBTQ+ health. A celebrated instructor, he is a past recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Educator and the AACN Didactic Nursing Educator of the Year. He frequently presents at national conferences on innovative undergraduate pedagogy and LGBTQ+ health equity.
Dr. Carney maintains an active clinical practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, a New York City-based leader in LGBTQ+ healthcare. His comprehensive clinical focus includes primary care, gender-affirming care, sexual health and wellness, PrEP care, and the care of patients living with HIV.
He earned both his BSN and DNP from the University of Kentucky. Prior to joining NYU, he served as a faculty member at UK and practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner within the UK HealthCare Transform Health network, a dedicated group of providers specializing in LGBTQ+ care. -
